    During this time, the weather is generally dry, with little to no rainfall (between 15mm – 36mm per month). The average temperatures range from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F), making it a popular time for wildlife safaris and visits. The dry season is also ideal for witnessing the Great Migration, as herds of wildebeest and other animals migrate across the plains.

    Wet Season in Tanzania – November to May

    The peak of rainfall is typically in March (178mm / 7”), April (368mm / 14.5”), and May (211mm / 8.3”). The wet season is characterized by intermittent showers and occasional heavy downpours. Average temperatures during this time range from 20°C to 28°C (68°F to 82°F). The landscapes become lush and green, offering beautiful scenery and opportunities for birdwatching. However, it’s important to note that some roads and trails may become impassable due to muddy conditions.

    Best Times To Spot Wildlife in Tanzania

    As one of the best game viewing countries on the continent, Tanzania offers year-round opportunities for seeing some of Africa’s most impressive animals. 

    For the Great Serengeti Migration: head to Southeastern Serengeti from December through April, Western Serengeti and Grumeti from May through July, and Northern Serengeti from July through November. 

    For other wildlife in Tanzania, December through January is equally great for Lake Mantra and Ngorongoro, while July through November is excellent for Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Selous, Ruaha, Mahale, Gombe, Katavi.

    Tarangire National Park

    Meet & Greet in Arusha with your professional driver/guide. Departure to Tarangire National Park. Spend the day on game drive – Tarangire is well known for its large elephant herds and its epic baobab trees. Tarangire is part of a larger ecosystem and its wildlife density changes with the dry and wet season. Proceed to your overnight stay in the late afternoon.

    Lake Manyara National Park

    Drive to Manyara National Park – located directly along the Rift Valley. The park is squeezed in between the steep sloping Rift Valley Wall and the shallow, alkaline soda lake. The dry season from June to October is best for viewing large mammals such as elephants, giraffes, zebras and cats; while the wet season, from November to May, is ideal to spot birds. Proceed to your accommodation.

    Serengeti National Park – Central

    Road journey to Serengeti National Park with picnic-lunch. Serengeti is Tanzania’s most famous national park and was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1981. Game viewing is fantastic throughout the year with resident game including buffalos, cheetahs, crocodiles, elephants, giraffes, hippos, hyenas, leopards, lions, servals, warthogs, wildebeests, zebras and many more!

    Depending on the time of year, you can also witness the Great Wildebeest Migration, which will cross Central Serengeti. They are usually joined by large herds of gazelles and zebras. Serengeti also offers a large bird variety – with more than 500 bird species. The landscape is equally outstanding – so be prepared for a magical golden horizon of endless grass plains as soon as the sun sets!

    Ngorongoro Crater

    Departure with picnic-lunch to Ngorongoro Crater for game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is an intact volcanic caldera and a natural sanctuary for wildlife. Expect to encounter prides of lions, elephants with huge tusks due to the rich volcanic soil, plain game, hippos, birds and many more. With a little luck you might spot the highly endangered black rhinoceros. Proceed to your overnight stay.

Proceed to your overnight stay in Karatu.

      Ngorongoro Crater

      Early start to Ngorongoro Crater. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the crater floor in front of the 600m high crater wall! The crater is home to almost 25.000 animals – including Africa’s ‘Big Five’. Easy to spot are buffaloes, elephants and lions.       During these months, the weather is generally warm and pleasant, with average temperatures ranging from 25°C to 29°C (77°F to 84°F) during the day. The average rainfall per month ranges from 46mm (1.8”) to 86mm  (3.4”). It is an ideal time to visit for wildlife safaris and gorilla trekking, as the drier conditions make it easier to navigate through the national parks.

      Wet Seasons in Uganda – March to May, September to November

      This period experiences relatively higher precipitation, with rainfalls ranging from 86mm (3.6”) from September to November to averages of around 147mm (5.8”) from March to May. The rainforest landscapes become lush and vibrant during this time, but it’s important to note that travel conditions can be more challenging due to occasional heavy rains and muddy trails. However, the rainy season also offers unique opportunities for birdwatching and witnessing the spectacular waterfalls at their fullest.

      In Uganda, game viewing in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale National Park, and Murchison Falls National Park is excellent December through February and June through October. In November and March it is good, and it is fair in April and May.

      Dry Season In Rwanda – June to September

      The weather during these is typically characterized by warm and sunny days, with average temperatures ranging from 15°C to 27°C (59°F to 81°F). These periods are considered excellent for visiting Rwanda’s national parks, such as Volcanoes National Park for gorilla trekking, as the dry conditions offer better visibility and ease of exploration. July’s rainfall is the lowest at just 11mm (0.4”), with June (19mm / 0.7”) and August (31mm / 1.2”) just a touch higher.

      Wet Season In Rwanda – October to May

      The rainfall and temperature remain relatively constant in Rwanda due to its position on the equator. Rainfall averages at least 77mm (3”) a month during this period, with a high in April of 154mm (6.1”). Afternoon temperatures are usually around 27°C/81°F, though they drop in popular regions like Nyungwe (21°C/70°F) and Volcanoes National Park (16°C/61°F).

      In Rwanda, game viewing in Volcanoes/Nyungwe is excellent December through March and June through October. It is good in November, and fair in April and May.

      We will pick you up from your accommodation and drive to the Volcanoes national park. Put your boots on, today is a once-in-a-lifetime experience: Gorilla tracking! You will be face to face with one of the most fascinating creatures in the world, and you will have one precious hour in their awe-inspiring company, observing as they interact, eat and play. During the hike, you will be able to enjoy the beautiful Rwandan scenery and interesting wildlife. 

      Day 3 - Volcanoes National Park

      After breakfast, we will return to Kigali. Depending on your flight time, you may be able to tour the city and learn about the history of Rwanda through the tales told by its capital; get acquainted with pre-colonial and colonial Rwanda, the 1994 genocide and see the new developments in this growing city. You will be dropped off in Kigali city or at Kigali airport in time for your scheduled flight.
