In June 2025, we finally set off on our 19-day Uganda adventure and, to say it straight away, it was an incredibly wonderful trip that we will never forget.
The travel programme was very well balanced and all the accommodation, our guide and the programme points were carefully selected. From our point of view, there is absolutely nothing that could have been done better. Everything also worked perfectly during the trip, from the first to the last day.
We are very happy that we booked with Kikooko Africa Safaris and appreciate the very personal and unique service.
We can recommend Kikooko Africa Safaris without reservation and thank them wholeheartedly for this wonderful trip. We have taken Uganda into our hearts.
As individual as you are! - Our first contact with Kikooko was at FESPO 2024 in Zurich. We were greeted at the stand by Warren, his sister Happiness and Ivan. It was Ivan who convinced us... Read More to travel to Uganda - the pearl of Africa. After defining our wishes, needs and travel dates, we received a tailor-made offer within a few days. We enthusiastically booked the trip and enjoyed more than nine months of anticipation.
During this time we were in regular email contact with Warren and Aminah at the Entebbe office. Arriving in Entebbe just before Christmas, we were warmly welcomed by Ivan and taken to our lodge near the airport. Our adventure began!
The journey took us through some unforgettable highlights:
- Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
- Murchison Falls National Park
- Kibale Forest National Park (with chimpanzee tracking)
- Queen Elizabeth National Park
- Ishasha Sector
- Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (with Mountain Gorilla tracking)
- Lake Mulehe, Lake Bunyonyi and Lake Mburo National Parks
One highlight followed another. We stayed in superbly chosen lodges and had a tour guide in Ivan who left nothing to be desired. He made everything we dreamed of possible - our perfect trip became a reality!
A particularly moving moment was our visit to Kisoro, the birthplace of the founder of Kikooko Africa Safaris. There we got a glimpse of the warm hospitality and way of life of the Ugandan people. We were also able to plant a coffee tree at Lake Bunyonyi as a symbol of our connection to the country.
At the end of the trip, Kikooko offered us a guest room in her office building so that we could freshen up and repack our suitcases before travelling home - an exceptional service that we had never experienced in our many travels across six continents.
It was hard to say goodbye. A part of our soul will always remain in Uganda. We learnt that we Europeans own the clock - but Africans own the time.
The Kikooko team kept every promise they made.
Welcoming experience by the staff. - We received very professional services from the staff who on a very short picked us from the airport and took us to Kikooko guesthouse

We had a trip put together, booked it and spent two wonderful weeks in Uganda. Ivan, whom we had already met at the holiday fair, picked us up at the airport and drove us safely through the country for two weeks. The planning with the local agency went smoothly and without complications, the team is very committed and even Warren, the owner, took the time to meet us. The lodges were wonderful and beautifully situated and the programme was varied and exciting. We felt very comfortable at all times and can highly recommend Kikooko and Uganda. Read More guidance. It was not our first safari but Rogers is the best guide we have seen so far. An excellent driver who can change program very quickly if you want to adjust the journey on the way. The accommodations are not comparable to some in Tanzania, but Kikooko generally manages to pick the right ones. All in all a successful trip that we will remember for a long time to come. Thanks Kikooko!

Read More of the many highlights and not THE highlight. I fell in love with the most friendly and sincere people, the beautiful unspoilt nature, the different primates and all the little things that made Uganda, Uganda.
My travel company met Warren at 'de vakantiebeurs' earlier this year. They were completely blowing away bij Warrens' enthousiasm and said that they will book the trip to Uganda with Kikooko. That evening my friend texted me if i want to join their family to Uganda. I haven't had to think about it for a second. Of course!
So we booked the 16 days trip to Rwanda and Uganda with for us in advance the following highlights: the Gorilla's, the Chimpansees and the Golden Monkeys.
Alex picked us up at the airport with our beautiful vihicle for the next two weeks. Alex was our guide through our trip and he was fantastic; his accessible personality, his excellent driving skills, his great surprises and his great knowledge about Uganda makes him the best driver you can get. He has shown us the pure and raw Uganda as he experiences it and has brought us to places where the locals have never seen tourists before. We have been to a local church, to his birth community and had some drinks at the local bar. Alex gave us different options every day and was very flexible if we wanted to see or do something special.
We got to see all the primates we came for; the gorilla, the golden monkey, the chimpansee, saw tree climbing lions in Ishasha and had the privilege of seeing as many as 6 animal couples making love.
We also saw many other animals such as elephants, giraffes, birds, hippos, pumba's, a lot of monkeys and rhinos in the rhino sanctuary.
What a great countries and what a excellent organization is kikooko. Rwanda was great but Uganda should be on everyone's bucket list.
Thank you Alex, thank you Warren and thank you to the rest of the team. I will spread the word and hope many people will see what your beautiful country has to offer and how great you guys are.
Keep on doing the beautiful things you do and I know I will be back

Kikooko is going the extra mile in planning the most perfect itinerary for you by listening carefully, adjusting it to your personal preferences and working out the best options to provide the most value. From the time one is picked up at the airport to being dropped off again, everyone from management to guide is looking after you and making sure you have the time of your life, going the extra mile with every interaction they have with you. A very brief summary of our experience:
- Planning and booking: I have rarely experienced such detailed and personal preparation. Also, you will get the best value, Kikooko can alter to your budget and still offer high-end experience.
- Staying at the Topaz Guest House in Entebbe: Run by Lydia who does not only do the best juices ever, but also gives you the best first insight of true Ugandan hospitality. Make sure you haven't eaten for a week before Lydia spoils you with her food!
- Tours/Guide: Our guide was Ivan who has years of experience and could answer any question, he is like the walking lexicon of Uganda! On top of being most knowledgeable and professional, he makes one feel like a VIP and friend at the same time. Plus, and this is major: When we didn't get to see the chimps in the trekking, all the other operators packed their tourists back in their car and told them they can go back tomorrow but would have to pay the license fee again. Whereabouts our Kikooko guide spoke to the Rangers and had us joining an afternoon trip to enable us to get to see the chimps! Ivan is also a very skillful driver, he handles the 4W car like an easy toy, we always felt super safe and comfortable. Plus, even though the itinerary will make you looking forward to the trip for weeks, you will find out that even in between there is small surprises every day.
Accommodation: Kikooko booked us into great places and often a much higher standard than we would have expected.
Food: Kikooko makes sure that any dietary requirements can be met (which is not easy everywhere in Uganda). We are on a vegan diet and never had a problem, thanks to Rena and Ivan who both kept on checking and explaining it to the hotels and restaurants. So if you are a vegan and want a trouble-free experience, book with Kikooko.
Activities: Ours were mostly animal and nature based and all the encounters and sightings we had exceeded our expectations so far. We have been on safaris before in other African countries, but what Kikooko puts together is the best you will find.
So, we can't wait to explore the rest of Uganda with Kikooko another time - two weeks was way too short and we are still reminiscing about our adventures! Thank you Warren, Rena and Ivan, you understand how to make dreams come through!
Each week, we share blogs to help you make the most of your East African safari, from facts about the wildlife and wilderness to stories about the impact on our community projects.
