Itinerary

Arrival in Entebbe and transfer to your accommodation nearby.

After breakfast, transfer to Mabamba swamp for shoe bill tracking and after lunch, you will head out for beach clean-up. Here you will be joined by Kikooko staff and head out to a beach near the offices to pick plastics and polythene bags contributing to conservation of the environment.

After breakfast, transfer to Kibale forest national park, home of the chimpanzees. You will have lunch in Fort Portal and reach kibale in time to volunteer at the Kibale Forest Restoration project which is rehabilitating more than 10,000 hectares of degraded land in the Kibale National Park where natural causes, human disturbance and poor land management has led to severe degradation and soil erosion. You will participate in tree planting and removing the elephant grass in the area which is extremely prevalent and invasive and restricts new tree growth. Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, you will head to the Kibale forest, renowned for its diverse primate population, including one of the largest remaining populations of wild chimpanzees in Africa.You will be guided by experienced rangers, to trek through the dense rainforest to locate and observe chimpanzees in their natural habitat. The experience can be both exhilarating and educational, as guides provide insights into the behaviour, social structure, and ecology of these fascinating primates. Besides viewing the chimps, visitors often learn about conservation efforts and the challenges faced by these animals, including habitat loss and poaching.In the afternoon, head out for Bigodi swamp walk, Bigodi is a biodiversity hotspot, famous for its rich birdlife and various other wildlife. You will explore the lush wetlands, where you will spot numerous bird species and primates. The walk often includes cultural elements, as local communities are involved in guiding and conservation efforts. This provides a chance to learn about the traditions and lifestyles of the indigenous people.

After breakfast, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, this will be a long drive therefore, you will wake up early and reach in time for a relaxed evening. Enjoy the serene surroundings of your accommodation, as you prepare for the enriching experiences ahead.

After breakfast, visit the Batwa with a few youths from the neighbouring village for a cultural learning experience in the afternoon. The youths and yourselves, will learn from the Batwa elders about their past, traditional ways of living to help preserve the knowledge. With the client’s permission, this can be recorded and shared online to reach thousands of people.Note that; an extra day of Gorilla Tracking can be added to the program for an additional fee!In the afternoon, visit a Kikooko project, where the company is collaborating closely with porters in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to establish a restaurant. This initiative aims to provide an additional income stream for the porters, supplementing their earnings from porting jobs and contributing to the local economy. Share your knowledge about customer service with the porters for their future restaurant, advice about the meals from a tourist’s point of view and if possible, make a donation to the project.

Today after breakfast, you will enter this UNESCO world heritage site for a nature walk, you might spot birds and primates during your walk in this jungle that survived the last ice age. You will be joined by a group of batwa elders who will share their history living in the forest alongside nature and wild animals.

After an early breakfast, transfer back to Entebbe, reaching in time for a relaxed afternoon at your accommodation.

Day 9 :
Entebbe

On your final day, reflect on the positive impact you've made throughout your journey. After a relaxed breakfast, depending on your flight time, you will be transferred to the Airport in time for your flight back home, carrying with you the memories of an enriching and transformative experience.
